Two things to know before you buy

1. There is no noise cancelling. The Clear has ENC on its dual microphones, and that is a different thing from ANC: it cleans up your voice so the person on the other end of a call hears you and not the street. It does nothing to quiet the world for you. The silicone tips block some sound simply by sealing your ear, as any in-ear does, but there is no active cancellation. If you want quiet on a plane or in an open-plan office, our C30 has 52dB hybrid ANC.

2. The codecs are SBC and AAC — no LDAC, no aptX. On most of our range that's a warning for iPhone owners. Here it's the opposite: there's no Android-only codec to miss out on, so the Clear sounds the same on an iPhone as it does on a Pixel. You're not paying for capability your phone can't reach. If you do want high-resolution audio on Android, the C30 has LDAC.

Battery

7 hours from a single charge and 40 hours total with the case, over USB-C. Expect less than 7 if you listen loud — volume is the main variable here, since there's no ANC to switch on or off.
